significant tender exercises among all the major supercomputer vendors for
UGC institutes. Department is
requested to sign an agreement with US government for the export of the
supercomputer, July 2002. (IBM e-Server p670, supercomputer grade) (The
success of the award of the tender made CUHK enjoy 91% discount of the
machine list price. IBM¡¦s US
headquarter Managing Broad and Asia Pacific Managing Director approvals are
required. Only two sets of the
similar class machines have been shipped to Hong Kong. One is installed in the basement of
Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank.

strategic development in the Department of Architecture, March 2002. (The
